White House releases video of Maduro walking ‘like a criminal’
The official Rapid Response account of the White House has released a video of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro walking ‘like a criminal’. ‘Rapid Response 47’ captioned the video, ‘Perp Walk (criminal made to walk in public)’.
The video shows Maduro walking down a corridor. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time. In addition, the blue carpet on which Maduro walked had the words ‘DEA NYD’ (Drug Enforcement Agency, New York Division).
While walking, Maduro can be heard saying ‘Happy New Year’ to those present in the office. Several international media outlets including the BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN reported this information. It said that the video was taken while Maduro was being taken to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office in New York.
The report also said that Venezuelan President Maduro, who was detained in a US raid, is being taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn under tight security. From there, he will be brought to the federal court in Manhattan on charges of drug and arms trafficking. Incidentally, after months of continuous military pressure and threats, the United States invaded Venezuela early on Saturday (January 3). Then, US forces captured Maduro and his wife Celia Flores and took them to the United States.
