Sister murdered by brother, killer arrested
A housewife named Tapasi Das (42) was hacked to death in Cox’s Bazar. Police have arrested the murderer Kalicharan Das while he was fleeing in this incident. The incident took place at around 12 noon today, Thursday (January 1) in Kamira Para area of Ali Akbar Del Union of Kutubdia Upazila. Kalicharan Das is the son of Shukkur Das of that area. He was caught while fleeing through the Steamerghat area of the upazila. The deceased Tapasi Das is the wife of Prabad Das of the same area. Both of them are cousins.
According to local residents and police sources, Tapasi Das was working inside her house. At that time, her cousin Kalicharan Das entered the house. Before he could understand anything, he took out a sharp knife from his waist and hacked Tapasi Das to death. After being rescued by local residents in a serious condition, she died on the way to the hospital. Meanwhile, while fleeing from the scene, the police arrested the murderer Kalicharan Das with the help of local residents of the Steamerghat area. Kutubdia Police Station OC Mahbubul Haque said that the body of the deceased has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The murderer Kalicharan Das involved in the murder has been arrested. The incident occurred due to a dispute over money owed. The arrested person is being questioned further.
