Tarique Rahman’s nomination papers collected from Dhaka-17 constituency

After his ancestral seat in Bogra, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is now making strong preparations to contest from the important Dhaka-17 constituency in the capital Dhaka. This Sunday (December 28) morning, Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar collected nomination papers on his behalf from the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Segunbagicha. The news of the arrival of the top BNP leader in this elite constituency consisting of Gulshan and Banani has now started a new equation in the political circles.
Meanwhile, the process of Tarique Rahman and his daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman becoming voters is now in its final stage. Last Saturday (December 27) night, the National Identity Card Branch of the Election Commission confirmed the preparation of their identity cards. After approval in the commission meeting by this afternoon (December 28), they will be officially enrolled as voters of Ward No. 19 in the Gulshan area. According to the rules, they will have only one day to submit their nomination papers after their names are included in the voter list.
After Bogra, there has been great enthusiasm among the grassroots leaders and workers of the party to file nominations from Dhaka-17 constituency today. According to analysts, this two-pronged strong position of Tarique Rahman will put BNP in a particularly advantageous position in the election fight. Now all eyes are on the formal approval of the Election Commission, which will be the final step for direct participation in the parliamentary elections.
