Hadi murder trial to be completed during the tenure of the interim government
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change of the interim government, has assured that those who killed Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi will be brought to justice during the tenure of the interim government. She gave this assurance while joining the sit-in program of Inqilab Mancha at Shahbagh intersection in the capital on Saturday (December 27) night.
Rizwana Hasan said, “We are in regular contact with the family of Shaheed Hadi. We will bring to justice those who killed our Hadi on the soil of Bangladesh during the tenure of the interim government.” She said, “Martyr Hadi’s death was very tragic and heartbreaking. I considered Hadi my brother. His martyrdom for the country is an irreparable loss for us. It is a national responsibility to ensure justice for the murder of a person whose funeral is attended by 1.2 to 1.5 million people.”
The advisor said, “The interim government may not be sitting in Shahbagh like the protesters, but the government is working relentlessly to identify and bring to justice all those involved in this murder. We are investigating in the face of the enemy. Therefore, we are not disclosing any information that can strengthen the adversary.”
Rezwana Hasan said that after completing all the tests and investigations, the charge sheet of this murder will be submitted specifically. InshaAllah, the charge sheet will be given after January 7, 2025 and the trial will be completed quickly during the tenure of the interim government. She said that in the past, the trial of the Asia murder case was completed in just six working days. Based on that experience, the government wants to present a correct and strong charge sheet this time too, so that there are no gaps.
Rizwana Hasan also said that even if the accused leave the country, they will be tried in their absence. Also, initiatives have been taken to bring back the fugitives through diplomatic efforts. The matter has been clearly conveyed to the Indian government and they have assured cooperation. Stating that it is not possible to disclose some information for the sake of the investigation, he said, DB Police has organized a press conference at 6:30 am yesterday, where more detailed information about the murder will be given.
