Gunmen assigned to 6 NCP members

The interim government has decided to appoint gunmen to ensure the security of the organizers and coordinators of the July uprising. In the meantime, gunmen have been assigned to 6 front-line figures of the July uprising. Along with the July fighters, gunmen will provide security to top leaders of various political parties, several parliamentary candidates and media personalities. There are 20 more names on the list of people who will get gunmen.
A senior police source told us on Monday (December 23) that gunmen have been appointed for the security of former advisor to the interim government and convener of the National Civic Party (NCP) Nahid Islam, member secretary Akhtar Hossain, NCP chief coordinator for the southern region Hasnat Abdullah, chief coordinator for the northern region Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari and senior joint member secretary Tasneem Zara. Soon, President of the People’s Rights Council Nurul Haque Noor, General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan will be given a gun.
Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (JP) Ameer Barrister Andalib Rahman Partha have applied to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for a gun for personal security. Others on the list of gun owners include – Mass Movement Chief Coordinator Junaid Saki, BNP-nominated MP candidate from Demra-Jatrabari area Tanvir Ahmed Robin, BNP-nominated candidate from Pabna-3 constituency Zafir Tuhin, Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman and former minister Anwar Hossain Manju, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col. (retd.) Oli Ahmed and 20 others.
In addition, special security is being provided to the family of Shaheed Osman Hadi, who was vocal in the anti-fascist and anti-hegemonic movement. One of Hadi’s sisters is being given a license and a gun owner. Round-the-clock police security will be provided for the safety of other members. This information was confirmed by high-level sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police.
