Pakistan-wide protests called against Toshakhana verdict

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for nationwide protests against the verdict in the second Toshakhana case. The former prime minister called for this protest through his lawyer on Saturday (December 20) local time. He also announced an appeal in the High Court against the verdict. The country’s media outlet Dawn News reported this information in a report.
On behalf of Imran Khan, his lawyer posted a post on social media X. It said, be ready for protests on the streets. In the meantime, the former prime minister sent a message to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He also called on the entire nation to wake up to demand their rights.
The case is related to the purchase of a ‘jewelry set’ from Italian giant Bulgari. Yesterday (December 20), the court sentenced the former prime minister and his wife Bushra Bibi to a total of 17 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1.64 crore for the gift fraud. It is worth noting that in May 2021, when Imran Khan went on an official visit to Saudi Arabia as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman gifted Imran a Bulgari jewelry set. Later, Imran kept it for himself at a nominal price.
