Five shops burnt in a terrible fire

Five shops were burnt in a terrible fire in Patuakhali. It is learnt that about 30 lakh taka of damage was caused. A fire broke out in Dhulia Bazar of Bauphal upazila at around 3 am today, Sunday (December 21). Rakib Hossain’s pharmacy, Sultan Melkar’s tea shop, Belal Melkar’s grocery and beauty shop, Amin Hossain’s grocery shop and Nayan Sharif’s food and beverage hotel were completely burnt down in the fire.
Initially, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. On receiving the news of the fire, locals rushed to the spot but failed to put out the fire. Later, on receiving the news, two units of Bauphal Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control. However, by then the shops were completely burnt down. Bauphal Police Station OC (Investigation) Atiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said that there were no casualties in the fire.
