There is no conflict between carrying weapons by candidates and code of conduct: EC Secretary
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has said that there is no conflict between carrying weapons by candidates and code of conduct in the upcoming elections. If necessary, the election code of conduct will be added or subtracted. However, the matter has not been discussed with the Home Ministry yet. He said this while talking to reporters at the Election Commission building in Agargaon on Wednesday (December 17) afternoon.
He said that an agreement has been reached with the EU Foreign Ministry and the EC. A delegation will come from their side. This team will be led by Ivers Ijabs. A total of 175 to 200 observers will come. The EC Secretary also said that as per the tripartite agreement, the observation team will be provided with facilities. However, they will have to follow the protocol. He also said that they will bring some equipment at that time.
