Former Railway Minister’s aide arrested with weapons
Police have arrested former Railway Minister Mujibul Haque’s close aide Abdul Barek with a foreign pistol in Comilla. He was arrested in a raid on Sunday (December 14) night on his way from Dhaka to Comilla with a plan to commit sabotage.
The arrested Abdul Barek alias Pistol Barek (55) is the eldest son of Mohammad Ali of Satgharia (Sameshpur) village in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla. The police handed him over to the Kotwali Model Police Station that night. There are multiple cases of weapons, human trafficking, murder and sabotage against him. Police said that last night, police members searched the Daudkandi Toll Plaza check post on the Dhaka-Comilla highway. Barek was arrested with weapons.
Daudkandi Model Police Station OC M. Abdul Halim said that Barek had been staying in the Lalmatia area of Dhaka’s Mohammadpur for a long time. At that time, he was planning sabotage and human trafficking in various parts of the country including Comilla while in hiding. There are several cases against him at the Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station, including weapons, murder and human trafficking. He also has close relations with the General Secretary of the Central Jubo League, Mainul Hossain Nikhil.
