Locals panic after shelling on Myanmar border

A massive shelling incident took place on the Myanmar border east of the Konapara area of ​​Ward No. 2 border of Hoi Kyung Union in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The shelling continued for an hour this Saturday (December 13) morning. However, it is not known which force inside Myanmar was involved in the shelling.
Meanwhile, the bullets fired by them fell on Balukhali Para and Teli Para of Hoi Kyung UP. Locals said that the bullets hit the roof of the house of two locals named Mohammad Alam and Mohammad Hossain. However, no one was injured in the incident. It is reported that people living near the border are panicking after the shelling.
Sirajul Islam Lalu, a member of Ward No. 2 of Hoi Kyung, said that there was a massive shelling incident on the Myanmar border on the way home after Fajr prayers in the morning. We, the worshippers, heard the sound. Since our house is near the border, we are panicking – when will the bullets come on us? However, we are already on the road a short distance from our house to be safe.
Hoi Kyung Union Parishad Chairman Nur Ahmed Anwari said, “I don’t know, I will talk to the people of the area and find out.” Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer Md. Imamul Hafiz Nadim said, “We have received the news and have informed the law enforcement agencies. Also, an awareness campaign is being conducted so that the people of the area do not panic.”
