Expatriate killed in clash between two groups in Narsingdi
One person was shot dead in a clash between two groups over dominance in the Nilakshar Char area of Raipura, Narsingdi. At least 10 people, including people from both sides, were injured in the incident. The incident took place at around 11:30 am today, Monday (December 8) in the Darigaon area of Nilakshar in the upazila. The deceased youth has been identified as Mamun Mia (25). He is the son of Abdul Awal of the same area and was an expatriate in Kuwait. He had come to the country on leave 15 days ago.
Family members of the deceased and locals said that there had been a long-standing dispute between the deceased martyred member and the Felu Mia group over dominance in Nilakshar. This morning, people from the opposing side clashed with the son-in-law of Felu Mia’s daughter (deceased Mamun Mia), who had returned from Kuwait, in the local market. During the clash, there was an exchange of gunfire and assault between the two sides. Mamun was shot and several others were injured. Later, three of the injured were rescued and taken to Narsingdi District Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Mamun dead. Mamun’s father Awal Mia (55) and Parash Mia, who was shot in the incident, have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Confirming this information, Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police Sujan Chandra Sarkar told us, “After receiving information, we have deployed additional police at the scene. We have heard that one person has been killed. We will collect complete information and provide details.”
