‘Top terrorist’ killed in mob lynching after announcing on microphone during robbery

Fakhrul Islam Manju (25), a ‘top terrorist’ listed by the police, was killed in a mob lynching by locals after announcing on the microphone of a mosque during a robbery in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. The incident took place in front of the door of Mandar’s house in Ward No. 1 of Hajipur Union of the upazila on Monday (December 8) morning. The deceased Fakhrul Islam Manju is the son of Rohan Mia of Hajipur area of ​​Ward No. 9 of Chaumuhani Municipality. There are more than 5 cases against him in various police stations including Begumganj on charges of extortion, robbery and weapons.
According to local sources, Manju kidnapped a businessman from a CNG station in front of Mandar’s house in South Hajipur area at 9 am today and robbed him of Tk 20 lakh 50 thousand. When the matter came to light, locals blocked him, beat him up and killed him. According to police and locals, the deceased Manju is a known criminal in the area. He was known as a listed ‘top terrorist’. There are 5 cases, 2 arrest warrants and multiple charges against him at Begumganj Model Police Station, including murder and extortion.
Begumganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MR Bari said that the body has been recovered and sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The police station has more than 5 cases against him. After receiving information, multiple teams of police and army visited the scene. Investigation is underway to find out who killed him and why.
