CPB Iqbal Hossain said, “Our Jamuna blockade program is to protest against the state agreement signed with a foreign company regarding the country’s dam.” Later, when we set off towards Jamuna, the police stopped us and lathicharged us. In this, 12 of our leaders and activists were injured. Later, they were rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division of Police Masud Alam told the media that processions, meetings and gatherings are prohibited in the area of the residence of the Chief Advisor. We have spoken to those who have repeatedly given programs in this regard. Even then, when they tried to go towards Jamuna, the police tried to stop them by setting up barricades. At that time, they were pushed. In that sense, it cannot be called lathicharge. They were prevented from going towards Jamuna.
Inspector in-charge of the police camp of DMCH Hospital Md. Faruk said that 12 people were taken to the emergency department of the hospital from Kakrail intersection in injured condition. Later, the doctor released them after treatment.
