Businessman hacked to death after entering shop in Laxmipur

A businessman named Anwar Hossain was hacked to death after entering a shop in Ramganj, Laxmipur. A local youth named Yusuf has been accused of the murder. The incident took place on Tuesday (November 25) morning at Nagmud Bazar in Bholakot Union of the upazila.
The deceased Anwar is a resident of Ali Reza Bepari Bari of Saharpara village in Bholakot Union and is a confectionary trader in Nagmud Bazar. He has a wife, 3 daughters and a son. On the other hand, the accused Yusuf is the son of Ershad Mia of Maij Bari of Saharpara village.
According to police and local sources, Anwar was sitting in the shop like every morning. Then Yusuf came and quarreled with Anwar. At one point, Yusuf called him inside the shop. There he hit him on the chest and stomach with a sharp weapon. Later, Yusuf fled the scene. Later, locals rescued Anwar in his injured condition and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where he died. Ramganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Bari told us that police have been sent to the hospital and the spot. It is believed that the murder was committed for personal reasons. Accused Yusuf is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to arrest him.
