Khaleda Zia has heart and lung infection – Medical Board

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has a heart and lung infection. She is undergoing treatment under close observation by hospital doctors. Professor Dr. FM Siddiqui, a member of the medical board formed for the BNP Chairperson, told reporters in front of Evercare Hospital in the capital on Sunday (November 23) night. He said, ‘She had been getting infections frequently for the past few months. The reason we admitted her here (to Evercare Hospital) today is because she has several problems at once. That is, she has a chest infection.’
In the words of Professor FM Siddiqui, ‘Because she already had heart problems. She has a permanent pacemaker in her heart and her heart was stopped, so a ring was inserted. Even then, she has a disease called mitral stenosis. That is why the chest infection affected both her heart and lungs at the same time and she was in severe respiratory distress. That is why we brought her here very quickly.’
Referring to keeping Khaleda Zia in the 24-hour intensive care unit, the medical board member said, “After bringing her to the hospital, we did the necessary tests very quickly. Based on the initial report we received, all the members of the medical board sat down and initially gave her antibiotics and provided her with the necessary primary, rapid and emergency treatment.”
He said, “We are expecting some more reports within 24 hours. She is under our close observation. We think it is very important what happens to her next condition in the next 12 hours. Right now, she is under our highest medical care and what we call very close observation. She is in the cabin.” Earlier, Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital at 8 pm yesterday. She is under the supervision of Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, a specialist doctor at Evercare Hospital.

We don’t think there is anything to worry about too much.”
