Clashes over wedding invitations in Jhenaidah, 10 injured

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two parties in Jhenaidah over the non-issuance of wedding invitations. The incident took place in Bakri village of Sadar upazila on Saturday (November 22) morning. The injured have been rescued and admitted to the district Sadar Hospital.
Police and locals said that Rafiqul Islam’s daughter’s wedding ceremony was held in that village yesterday, Friday. Tension arose in the area last night after neighbor Shahin Uddin was not invited to the wedding. The next morning, people from Shahin’s party attacked Rafiqul’s house. Then, the two parties clashed with local weapons. At least 10 people from both sides were injured in this.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the incident. He said that after receiving information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid tension.
