NASA Group’s Nazrul’s property worth Tk 180 crore seized
The court has ordered the seizure of 53 land documents, including a plot worth Tk 180 crore 37 lakh 88 thousand, belonging to NASA Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder in the Jalsiri residential project in Purbachal, Dhaka. The court has also ordered the seizure of three bank accounts worth Tk 2 crore 2 lakh 384.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz issued this order on Tuesday (November 18) as corruption allegations continue. Among the seized assets, there are 16 documents in the capital’s Tejgaon area and 30 in Badda. And 7 documents in the Jalsiri residential project have 162 kathas of property.
ACC Investigation Officer Shahjahan Miraj filed this application seeking a stay order. The petition states that NASA Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder has misused his power and acquired Tk 781 crore 1 lakh 22 thousand 954 through bribery and corruption. This wealth is inconsistent with the known income. That is why a case has been filed against him. Investigation sources say that the accused is trying to sell and transfer his movable and immovable assets. If the accused’s illegal assets are transferred or sold before the case is settled, the state will face loss. Therefore, it is strictly necessary to attach and seize his assets as per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the rules of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
