198 murders in the capital in 10 months

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said that 198 murders have occurred in the capital in the last 10 months. DMP Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman told us this information on Tuesday (November 18). He said, “In the last 10 months, an average of 20 murders have occurred in the capital alone. The police have solved the mystery of most of the incidents.”
He said that the police are investigating the murder of Jubo Dal leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi. So far, one person has been arrested. The main information will be known after the arrest of the other two involved in the murder. However, he said that the family has not yet filed a case in the incident. Earlier, Jubo Dal leader Golam Kibria was shot dead at a hardware shop in C Block near the old police station in Pallabi at around 6:40 pm on Monday (November 17).
After the incident, CCTV footage showed three men wearing masks and helmets entering the shop and shooting him at close range. At that time, he tried to hide by holding onto a chair in the shop. Although there were many others nearby, they could not do anything to the gunmen. The miscreants killed him in just 10 seconds and fled.
