The body of Riana Abzal (28), a female tourist who went missing in a boat sinking while on a trip to the Sundarbans, has been recovered. The body was recovered floating in the area adjacent to the Silo Jetty in Mongla on Monday (November 10) morning.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul Haque confirmed this information. He said that last Saturday (November 8) 14 tourists set off in a net boat to visit Karamjal in the Sundarbans.
He also said that when the boat reached the area adjacent to the Dhangmari Canal in the Sundarbans at 1 pm, it lost control and sank due to strong waves. Although 13 tourists were rescued alive with the help of local boats, 1 person could not be rescued.
Later, two rescue teams from Coast Guard Base Mongla and Station Harbaria quickly reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation in search of the missing tourist. After a continuous search for 3 days, the body of the missing tourist was recovered floating in the area adjacent to the Silo Jetty in Mongla this morning.
