Youth beaten to death in Begumganj

A youth was beaten to death in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali over a dispute over dominance. However, the police could not immediately reveal the names of those involved in the murder. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Quader Jilani alias Kan Kata Quadira (42), son of Md. Quader of Gofran Mia’s house in ward number 9 of Chaumuhani Municipality.
The body will be sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy around noon today (November 8). Earlier, the incident took place at the door of Cherang house in ward number 2 of Hajipur Union of the upazila around 9:30 pm on Friday.
Police and local sources said that Quader had a dispute with some local youths over dominance. Following this incident, some people beat him severely and beheaded him at the door of Chareng house in the upazila last night. Later, after confirming the death, they left the body there and fled. There are 4 cases against Quader, including fighting and drugs. Locals claim that Quader was killed due to a previous enmity. Quoting the deceased youth’s father-in-law, Liton Dewan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station, told us that the youth was involved in the criminal world and did not have much relationship with the family. There are also several cases against him. Upon receiving the information, the police recovered the body at night and brought it to the police station. The body is being sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken in light of the written complaint.
