DU student expelled for insulting religion

The university administration has expelled Abrar Fayaz, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dhaka University (DU), for six months on charges of insulting religion. This information was given in a notification sent from the Proctor’s Office signed by the University’s Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed on Wednesday (October 29).
It said that students of different years of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dhaka University have complained about insulting religion against Abrar Fayaz. They submitted a written application to the Proctor on October 26 to take administrative action against Abrar Fayaz.
In view of the application, the University Proctor formed a three-member committee to find out the truth about the incident. Based on the recommendation of the committee and the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Abrar Fayaz was expelled from the university for six months.
