Appeal hearing against the cancellation of the caretaker government is underway
The fourth day of the appeal hearing against the verdict to cancel the caretaker government is underway. The hearing began on Tuesday (October 28) morning at the full bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.
Earlier, on the third day of the hearing, lawyer Shishir Monir told the court that the process of canceling the caretaker government was planned and Sheikh Hasina has established a dictatorship by canceling this system. He also said that there is no alternative to the caretaker government if the election system is to be run smoothly.
Earlier, the Supreme Court on August 27 granted the petition for review of the verdict to cancel the caretaker government. The appeal was allowed. After that, five people including Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Jamaat Secretary General Golam Parwar filed an appeal. It is worth noting that in 2011, the Appellate Division of former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque ruled to abolish the caretaker government based on a majority opinion.
