Clashes, arson between Daffodil and City University students

A clash broke out between the two universities in the Khagan area of ​​Ashulia, Savar, over allegations that some students of Daffodil International University had attacked some students of City University. Arson also occurred.
A video of the clash went viral on Facebook last Sunday (October 26) night. Hundreds of Daffodil International University students gathered at the scene that night. When the agitated students tried to go towards City University, the university’s proctoral team and police tried to calm them down. Later, at the request of the proctor and law enforcement agencies, the students took a position in front of Bachelor Paradise. At that time, the attacking City University students dispersed.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident started in the evening with indecent behavior towards a Daffodil student. The incident took place in front of a building called Bachelor Paradise. An argument started between the students of the two universities over this. Later, at around 9 pm, about fifty students of City University attacked and vandalized the houses of Daffodil students with country-made weapons and bricks, resulting in tension. Two teams of Savar Police Station were deployed at the scene to bring the situation under control.
After the clash, the City University campus was seen on fire. Earlier, after midnight, Daffodil students entered City University and vandalized various structures including the administrative building. Important items including computers were looted, three buses and a private car were burned. Five more cars were vandalized.
During the clash, cocktail explosions also occurred to create panic. At least fifty students of both universities were allegedly injured in the clash that lasted until dawn. It is alleged that the students did not receive any help from the law enforcement agencies despite the clash that lasted for four hours. Tension is still prevailing at the scene.
However, Savar Police Station Duty Officer SI Habibur Rahman told us, “Our senior officers are at the scene. “The situation is now under control. Efforts are underway to bring the scene under control.”
