Former Land Minister Saifuzzaman’s 3 associates remanded for 10 days

The court has granted a total of 10 days’ remand to three associates of former Land Minister Saifuzzaman in two cases filed by the ACC on corruption charges. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz gave this order after the hearing today (October 23).
The accused are – Proprietor of Imperial Trading and AGM of Aramit PLC Md. Abdul Aziz, Proprietor of Classic Trading and AGM of Aramit PLC Mohammad Jahangir Alam and AGM of Aramit PLC Utpal Pal. They were produced in court today.
Then, ACC Deputy Director Md. Mashiur Rahman and Assistant Director Hafizur Rahman applied for a 14-day remand of seven days each in the two cases. ACC Public Prosecutor Delwar Jahan Rumi heard the case in favor of the remand. At that time, the accused’s lawyer filed a bail hearing requesting cancellation of the remand. After hearing both sides, the court granted 10-day remand in both cases.
On September 28, ACC Deputy Assistant Director Md. Rubel Hossain filed a case against 8 people as the plaintiff. According to the charges in the case, the accused embezzled Tk 41.75 crore by pressuring and intimidating Saif Power Tech Limited, a customer of UCB PLC’s Mohakhali branch, and Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, the managing director of E-Engineering Limited. They committed crimes under other sections including money laundering by approving loans and accepting bribes and transferring, transferring and converting money abroad.
