Jamaat Ameer Apologizes to Nation Again

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has apologized to the nation again. He said, “I apologize unconditionally to those who have been suffering from us since 1947.”
The Jamaat leader apologized to the nation for the third time in a row. He apologized in a meeting with journalists in New York, USA, on Wednesday (October 22) morning local time.
The Jamaat Ameer said, “Some people in the nation say, ‘I assume you have not committed any crime, but the nation still does not accept your political decision. You can only apologize once. We have apologized at least three times. Professor Ghulam Azam has apologized, Matiur Rahman Nizami has apologized and I have apologized myself too.’
He said, ‘A few days ago when ATM Azharul Islam came out of jail, I said not only now, but from 1947 till now, if Jamaat has harmed anyone, then I am asking you for an unconditional apology on behalf of all individuals and organizations. You will forgive us.’
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘We are human beings. Our organization is an organization of humans. Out of 100 of our decisions, one decision may be wrong. If the decision harms the nation, then where is the difficulty in me apologizing?’
He further said, ‘Now after apologizing, they say that it is not possible to apologize in this language, we have to apologize in that language. This is another pain for me. I apologized unconditionally, but then what was left I did not understand. Today I repeat, I apologize unconditionally to all those who suffered from us from 1947 to 2025 for all the suffering we have caused.’
At that time, the Jamaat Ameer demanded a referendum on various issues including PR before the national elections. He also said that there was no uncertainty about the elections to be held in February before Ramadan.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman assured the meeting that if Jamaat comes to power, the minorities of the country will be able to live safely and without any hindrance as per their constitutional rights.
