Casino case suspect Selim Pradhan arrested in anti-terrorism law case

The court has ordered the arrest of Selim Pradhan, who is being discussed in the anti-terrorism law case of the capital’s Gulshan police station. Today, Wednesday (October 22), Dhaka’s Acting Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman approved the arrest of the accused as a financial provider of the Awami League.
State lawyer Muhammad Shamsuddoha Suman confirmed this information. The accused was produced in court from jail today. The investigation officer of the case, Gulshan Zonal Team Police Inspector Md. Mozammel Haque Mamun, has applied for the arrest.
The application said that through the disclosure of important information related to the case, it has been revealed that the accused Selim Pradhan (52) actively participated in anti-national propaganda as a financier, advisor and trainer of a banned organization with the aim of disrupting the sovereignty of the country and the security of the people of the country and creating chaos for the participants in the procession. Initial investigation revealed that the accused is an active member of a banned organization. The accused has been providing money to members involved in anti-government and anti-state activities in different parts of Dhaka city. In addition, information has been received that there is regular contact with the accused, who are influential leaders and activists of the banned organization. Initial information has revealed that the arrested accused is organizing workers of the Awami League and the banned Chhatra League across the country to deteriorate the law and order situation in the country. In such a situation, in the interest of investigating the case, if necessary, an application can be made to take the accused into police custody later. It is absolutely necessary to show their arrest and keep them in jail until the investigation of this case is completed.
The case has been alleged that on the morning of April 22, 30/35 people held a protest march under the banners of the banned Chhatra League and the banned Awami League near Jabbar Tower, Gulshan-1. The accused raised various slogans with the aim of creating chaos by disrupting the sovereignty of the country and the security of the people. The police went there and arrested some of the accused and some of them escaped. The police filed a case with Gulshan Police Station on the same day in this incident.
Earlier, at around 2:30 am on September 5, 9 people, including Selim Pradhan, were arrested from a restaurant called Nexus Cafe Place in Baridhara, Gulshan, in the capital. Selim Pradhan has been detained in jail since then.
