Grandmother killed to hide rape incident, accused rapist arrested

A young man named Abua Rabidas in Phulpur, Mymensingh, hacked and injured his grandmother after she protested after seeing her 4-year-old grandson being raped. The injured grandmother died while undergoing treatment on Wednesday (October 22) morning.
The police have arrested the rapist and murderer Abua Rabidas. The arrested Abua Rabidas is the son of Kachchu Rabidas of the same area. The incident took place in the area adjacent to the Amuakanda food warehouse in the upazila.
It is learned that Abua Rabidas forcibly raped a 4-year-old child in the Rabidas house in the area adjacent to the Amuakanda food warehouse at around 9 pm last Sunday (October 19). At that time, the child’s grandmother, Phulbali Rabidas, protested the rape of her grandson. Then the rapist Abua Rabidas hacked and seriously injured the child’s grandmother. Later, the locals admitted the seriously injured grandmother to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He died early Wednesday (October 22) while undergoing treatment there.
Meanwhile, the young woman who was raped is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Phulpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdul Hadi told us, “Preparations are underway to file a case on behalf of the deceased’s family in this incident. The body is at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
