Tribunal orders to send 15 army officers to jail
The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered to send 15 army officers detained in two cases of crimes against humanity committed by TFI-JIC cells during the Awami League regime to jail.
They were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal on Wednesday (October 22) morning.
Earlier, all the army officers had applied for bail. The judicial panel led by Tribunal-1 Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder will hear the formal complaints of the 15 officers.
30 people, including Sheikh Hasina, have been accused in two cases. Of these, 17 are accused in one and 13 in the other. Sheikh Hasina is named in both the cases. In addition, 15 out of 23 army officers are in custody.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are on alert in various parts of the capital to present the army officers before the tribunal. Members of various agencies including the army, BGB, RAB and police have been seen at several places including the High Court’s Mazar Gate, Matsya Bhavan and Kakrail adjacent to the tribunal since early morning.
