15 shops gutted in fire in Faridpur

A fire broke out in Kadirdi Bazar in Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur. 15 shops in the market were gutted. The incident took place on Saturday (October 18) night.
Locals said that the fire started from a tailor’s shop in Bachchu Mollar Market in the market. The fire immediately spread to at least 15 shops including grocery, medicine and shoe shops in the vicinity. Later, on receiving information, two units of Madhukhali and Boalmari Fire Service reached the spot and worked to control the fire. The fire was brought under control after about an hour and a half of efforts.
The Fire Service said that initially it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. The fire caused a loss of about 50 lakh taka. However, the Fire Service said that the amount of damage may increase.
