17 activists of banned Chhatra League and Jubo League arrested in Chittagong

Police have arrested 7 people on charges of trying to hold a procession in the Chittagong court premises and 10 people on charges of holding a procession in the Jharnapara area under Double Mooring police station.
They were arrested in front of the Metropolitan Jail on Friday (October 10) afternoon and from the Double Mooring area on the ground floor of the court after watching the video footage.
Those arrested from the court premises are Taher Majhi, Sunny, Hossain, Faisal, Parvez, Mamun and Zia. They are residents of Shikalbaha area of ​​Karnaphuli.
Police said that Karnaphuli Upazila Jubo League Joint General Secretary Sikandar Hossain (39) was arrested from Jamalkhan area last Thursday and was produced before the Chittagong court last Friday in a case of anti-discrimination movement. At that time, Jubo League activists gathered there. They tried to hold a procession in the court premises by raising slogans.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim said, “Seven people were arrested during the attempted procession. Action is being taken against them after investigation.” Meanwhile, Doublemooring Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Babul Azad said, “Activists of the banned organization Chhatra League gathered inside Jharnapara Goli and took out a procession. Later, after watching the video footage, the police arrested 10 people on charges of involvement.”
