Robbery at businessman’s house in Kaliganj, 3 arrested

Villagers have arrested three robbers while they were fleeing after robbing in Bejpara village of Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. The incident took place on Monday (October 6) at around 7:30 pm.
Police and locals told us that 8 members of a gang of robbers came to rob the house of Bazlul Karim of Bejpara village. At that time, no one was at home except his wife. All 8 entered the house saying that they were conducting a drug raid. At that time, they broke open the cupboard and drawers of the showcase in the house and took away 15-20 bhori of gold ornaments and about 20 thousand taka.
Locals also said that later, on the woman’s screams, the villagers rushed to try to stop the robbers. The villagers arrested the three members as they were fleeing to different parts of the village. Later, the police and the army arrived and took them to the police station.
Kaliganj Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam said that after receiving the information, the police and the army went to the spot and brought the three robbers to the police station. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining members based on their confessions.
