15 injured in clash between two parties over carrom game in Faridpur, houses vandalized

A clash between two parties over carrom board game took place in Saltha, Faridpur. At least 15 people from both sides were injured. Several of the injured have been admitted to the hospital.
The clash took place at around 9 am today (October 6) in Ramkantpur village of Ramkantpur union of the upazila. Several houses were vandalized during this time. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and calmed the situation.
According to police, local and eyewitness sources, a fight broke out in a market of Ramkantpur village between a young man named Rakib, a supporter of local Osman Talukder, and another young man named Layek, a supporter of opponent Quddus Talukder, over carrom board game. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the police station and brought the carrom board to the police station. But tension prevailed in the area due to the fight between the two youths.
As a result, supporters of both sides clashed at a local tea shop this Monday morning, armed with country-made weapons, shields, teta, sarki, rafts and bricks. The clash and chase continued for about two hours. During this time, 4 houses were vandalized. At least 15 people from both sides were injured.
At least 10 of the injured have been admitted to Faridpur Medical College and Boalmari Upazila Health Complex. The rest have been given first aid. However, it was not possible to identify the injured initially.
In this regard, Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman said, “Additional police have been deployed in the area to maintain peace. However, no party has filed a complaint with the police station so far in this incident. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.”
