Only Trump can stop Israel’s genocide: Saudi Prince Turki

Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki al-Faisal has said that only US President Donald Trump is capable of putting pressure on Israel to stop its ‘genocidal war’ on the Palestinians.
In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya English’s W News program on Wednesday (September 24), he said that Israel’s military operation in Gaza following the Hamas attack in October 2023 was ‘clearly an example of genocide’.
Prince Turki welcomed the recent trend of international recognition of the Palestinian state and called on these countries to take effective steps to protect the sovereignty and independence of the recognized Palestinian state. He added that while Saudi Arabia and France have led diplomatic efforts, the US must now be involved in the process, as only Washington has the power to force Israel to change course.
Prince Turki disagreed with Israel’s accusation that recognizing Palestine is rewarding Hamas. He said that Hamas’s real reward comes from Israel’s oppression. When Israel takes away the rights of the Palestinians and suppresses them, Hamas gains popularity. Not state recognition, but Israeli actions are Hamas’s greatest reward.
He added that Israel has occupied Palestinian land for more than 60 years. This is Israel’s declared policy.
Commenting on the recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Prince Turki said that he was not surprised at all. In his words, this is Israel’s true face – a treacherous and unreliable state as a potential partner for peace in the region. Israel has betrayed the region throughout history.
