Israel must refrain from annexing West Bank: British Foreign Secretary

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has warned Israel that it will not annex any part of the West Bank in response to the UK recognising Palestine.
She made the comments ahead of a UN conference in New York today, where France and other European countries are expected to make similar announcements.
The UK, Australia and Canada have already recognised Palestine as a state. France and several other countries are expected to formally recognise Palestine in the coming days.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already said that the decision will be seen as a gift to “Hamas terrorism”. The US has also strongly opposed the move.
