No security threat for this year’s Durga Puja: Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there is no security threat for this year’s Durga Puja. He said, “This year’s Durga Puja will be celebrated in a more festive atmosphere than before. The bonds of communal harmony will remain intact.”
He said these things after visiting the Durga Puja pandal of Ramakrishna Mission in the Missionpara area of ​​the city on Monday morning (September 22). During his visit, he inspected the overall security arrangements and preparations and exchanged views with the organizers.
Referring to the extensive security measures taken for Durga Puja in Narayanganj, the Home Affairs Advisor said that CCTV cameras have been installed at every pandal. Seven volunteers from the local committee and eight Ansar members will be deployed at each of the 33,000 puja pandals across the country. Besides, police, RAB, BGB, and army personnel will also be on duty for security.
He further said, “Narayanganj has a beautiful tradition of communal harmony. This year, that harmony has become even stronger. The atmosphere during the puja will be joyful, and there will be no shortage of security.”
During the visit, DIG of Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallick, Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj Zahidul Islam Mia, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jashim Uddin, Commanding Officer of RAB-11 Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain, advisor of Narayanganj District Puja Parishad Prabir Kumar Saha, president Shankar Kumar Dey, general secretary Shikhan Sarkar Shipon, president of Amlapara Puja Parishad Prabir Kumar Saha, and other senior officials of the local administration were present.
