Drone attack on mosque during prayers in Sudan, 78 killed

At least 78 people were killed and 20 injured in a deadly drone attack on a mosque in the city of El-Fashir in Sudan’s Darfur region. The attack took place during prayers in the early hours of Friday (September 19).
The country’s army has been fighting the armed rebel group RSF for more than two years. The RSF is gradually moving to take control of the city of El-Fashir. It is the last stronghold of the army in Darfur. More than 300,000 civilians are trapped there in the fighting.
According to the British news agency Reuters, the RSF launched a new offensive in the city of El-Fashir this week. There have also been deadly attacks on camps for displaced people located outside the city.
Sudanese analysts and rights activists fear that ordinary citizens could be victims of the RSF’s wrath. Most of them are part of the enemy population in the eyes of the paramilitary.
