Joint operation in Mongla, female drug dealer arrested with 688 pieces of Yaba
A female drug dealer named Sumi Begum has been arrested with 688 pieces of Yaba worth about 3 lakh 44 thousand taka in a joint operation in Mongla, Bagerhat. The arrested woman is Md. Sumi Begum, daughter of Sultan Ahmed, a resident of Ward No. 6 of Mongla’s Overnight Colony.
This information was confirmed through a press release signed by Lieutenant Commander Muntasir Ibne Mohsin, Media Officer of Coast Guard West Zone, on Thursday (September 18) morning.
He said, based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted yesterday afternoon in the area adjacent to the Cemetery Road in the old residential area of Mongla Port in coordination with the Coast Guard and the police. During this time, a female drug dealer named Sumi Begum was arrested with 688 pieces of Yaba worth about 3 lakh 44 thousand taka.
He further said that the seized Yaba and the arrested accused have been handed over to Mongla Police Station for further legal action. Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent drug trafficking.
