A man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief
A man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief in Motbi, Sadar Upazila, Feni. The deceased, Mansur Ahmed (40), is the son of Sultan Ahmed of Kazir Ghatla village in Companiganj, Noakhali district. The incident took place early on Sunday (September 14) at Kabir’s house in Lakshman Lakshipur village, Laskarhat, of the union. Local villagers and Feni Model Police Station sources said that they saw an unknown person in Kabir’s auto-rickshaw garage in Motbi’s Madhyam Lakshipur village late at night and arrested him. The locals, suspecting him of being a thief, beat him up and threw him on a nearby land. When the village police members of the union informed the police station in the morning, the police recovered his body from the scene. Feni Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sajal Kanti Das told us that the body of the deceased has been recovered and kept at the Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy. There are injury marks on his body. Necessary legal action will be taken if the family files a complaint.
