No opportunity to belittle the Liberation War and freedom fighters: Army Headquarters
There is no opportunity to belittle the Liberation War or freedom fighters through any public, said Colonel Staff Colonel Md. Shafiqul Islam of the Directorate of Military Operations. He said this at a press conference organized at Officers Mess ‘A’ of Dhaka Cantonment on Monday (September 8) afternoon. Colonel Shafiqul Islam said that the army has not yet been given any formal instructions regarding the 13th National Parliament elections. However, we are preparing as we should and we are ready to fulfill our duties as per the instructions of the Election Commission. Stating that all cooperation has been provided or is being provided as demanded by the Missing Persons Commission and will be provided in the future, he further said that the issue of non-cooperation is a complete rumor. In a briefing at the Army Headquarters, Colonel Shafiqul Islam also said that the army is carefully monitoring the issue of fishermen being detained on the Myanmar border or being questioned about BGB or army camps. He said, “The police and the army are working to identify and arrest those involved in the incident of burning the body of Nurul Pagla in Goalanda, Rajbari.” Shafiqul Islam also said, “It is very sad if we are opposed on social media despite working for the public. However, many are speaking in favor of the army.”
