Administration demolishes wall of influential person on road of 25 families

In the Kumarkhali Batikamara area of the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway, allegations have been made against influential people for building a brick wall encroaching on the only road for the movement of at least 25 families. As a result, more than a hundred people have been suffering. In addition, a poultry farm, a pharmacy and a poultry food shop have been threatened. Later, after a written complaint was filed in this regard, the administration demolished the wall. On Thursday (August 28), at around 1:30 pm, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bijoy Kumar Joardar conducted a drive. The locals are happy with this. When we went to the spot around 11 am, we saw that the Shiplu oil pump is located next to the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway. At least 25 families and a few businesses live near the pump. There is a brick wall on the only road for the movement of people there and a pile of sand. The owner of Shiplu Poultry Feed and Farm, Md. Babul Hossain said, “The road has passed over my land. For a long time, people from 25-30 houses have been moving in this neighborhood. Business vehicles and people move. But last Tuesday, several land grabbers including local influential people Rezaul, Ziaur and Upazila BNP joint convener Mamun Biswas came and built a wall. They have created obstacles by throwing sand. As a result, we are all suffering a lot.” A woman who did not want to be named said, “This is a road. For a few days, influential people have built a wall and occupied it. There is no way to get out of the house. She demanded that the wall be demolished immediately.” Tamal Akhter Pias said, “A case is going on in the court regarding more than two hundred acres of land. The court has issued a temporary order. Still, influential people are trying to occupy it by disobeying the court’s law. I have filed a written complaint with the administration.” However, Upazila BNP joint convener Mamun Biswas denied the allegations and said, “There is a dispute with Zia regarding land. He called me for arbitration. I went to resolve it. However, I am not involved in creating public suffering. The administration inspected the site at noon and is conducting an eviction drive in the Batikmara area. At this time, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bijoy Kumar Joarder said, “Some people have obstructed the movement of 25 families and some business establishments. – Based on such allegations, a drive has been started and brick walls have been demolished. In addition, piles of sand have been removed. Such drives are continuing in the public interest.”
