Helicopter crashes in UK

A helicopter has crashed in a field on the Isle of Wight in England. The helicopter crashed on Monday (August 25) morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the accident and locals were urged to stay away from the area. Police said the helicopter crashed in a field near Shanklin Road on Monday morning. The road is currently closed and residents are urged to avoid the area. The Sun reported that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Coastguard Rescue 175 team from Lee-on-Solent are at the scene. A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 9.24am to reports of a helicopter crashing in a field near the A3020 Shanklin Road. The road is closed due to the high number of emergency services at the scene. So please avoid the area at this time.’ It is not yet clear what caused the crash. A Reuters report said there were no reports of any casualties. Meanwhile, eyewitness Leigh Goldsmith told the Isle of Wight County Press that he was driving towards Shanklin when he saw the helicopter spinning out of control and crashing. Goldsmith said he was the first to arrive at the scene and saw four people on board.
