Case filed for beating up security guard at Munshiganj toll plaza

A video of Abdul Hashem (55), who was on duty at the Muktarpur Bridge toll plaza in Munshiganj Sadar, publicly beating a security guard has gone viral on social media. A case has been filed against 7 people at Sadar Police Station, naming two youths in the incident. The victim himself filed the case at Sadar Police Station around 8 pm on Monday (August 18) on charges of obstructing government work and beating. Minhaj Uddin (28) Pappu (26) from the city’s North Islampur area and 4-5 unidentified people were accused in the case. Munshiganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) M Saiful Alam confirmed the information about the case. According to the complaint, when the two accused wanted to go ahead with their motorcycles at the toll plaza at around 11 am on Sunday, they were asked to pay the toll as per the rules while signaling at the Munshiganj-bound booth. Angered by this, they left the toll plaza with threats. Following this incident, around 11:30 am on the same day, the two youths and 4-5 others came to the toll plaza and beat the victim. At one stage, they beat him with a stick in front of the toll plaza. Later, locals rescued him and sent him to Munshiganj General Hospital. When the video of the incident went viral on social media, widespread criticism began. At that time, netizens demanded justice for those who beat the security personnel.
