UN-organized international conference on Rohingya issue to be held on September 30

National Security Advisor (NSA) and Principal Advisor High Representative on Rohingya Issues Dr. Khalilur Rahman said that an international conference on Rohingya is going to be held on September 30 under the initiative of the United Nations. He informed reporters at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka today, Sunday (August 17). Khalilur Rahman said that this conference is a permanent opportunity to provide immediate solutions for the Rohingya and the world community. That is why we want to take the voice of the Rohingya, their words, their hopes and aspirations, their dreams, all of this there. At the time, he also announced that an international conference titled ‘Partner Dialogue: Messages Received for Discussion at the High-Level Conference on the Rohingya Situation’ will be held in Cox’s Bazar on August 25 as a preparation for the conference. He said that the Cox’s Bazar conference is part of the preparations for a larger UN conference. This conference is a great opportunity for the Rohingya and the world community to provide guidance on finding a lasting and genuine solution to this problem. Dr. Khalilur Rahman also said that at one time, the Rohingya issue was almost being dropped from the agenda of international discussions. In this situation, the Chief Advisor had gone to the UN General Assembly last year and called on all member states to organize an international conference. This call was immediately and unanimously responded to and the UN General Assembly decided to convene this conference. It is worth noting that 106 countries of the world have sponsored this conference.
