Eight people, including former health minister’s APS, arrested in Manikganj

Police have arrested 8 leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations, including former health minister Zahid Malek’s APS Aminar Rahman alias Selim, in Manikganj. They were arrested in a case of attack on the anti-discrimination student movement. They were arrested in a drive conducted at various places throughout the day on Wednesday (August 13). The matter was confirmed by Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Aman Ullah. The arrested are former MP from Manikganj-3 constituency and former health minister Zahid Malek’s APS Aminur Rahman Biswas alias Selim, Awami League leaders Mohammad Ali Chowdhury alias Tulu, Nurul Islam Nuru, Mosharraf Hossain, Mohammad Raju, Imran Mahmud Iran, Nizam Bepari and Azim Mia. All of them are leaders and activists of various wings of Awami League and their affiliated organizations. OC Aman Ullah said that they were planning to organize various anti-government activities on the occasion of August 15. Based on secret information, their location was identified and arrested. There are cases against all those arrested in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement. He also said that the accused will be produced in court on Thursday after the legal process is completed.
