SP-OC to be transferred through lottery to ensure impartiality in elections: Home Affairs Advisor

Before the elections, Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of all districts will be transferred through lottery, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said. He made these remarks after a meeting held at the Home Ministry on Wednesday (August 6) to take decisions on formulating various action plans for the law enforcement agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. Stating that preparations for the elections have begun as per the Chief Advisor’s address to the nation, the advisor said, “We discussed today in continuation of this. DCs, SPs, UNOs and OCs play an important role during elections. Therefore, SPs and OCs will be transferred through lottery before the schedule is announced.” The Home Affairs Advisor also said that the logistical support required during the elections was discussed in this meeting. One body camera will be provided at each of the 47,000 polling stations. Arrangements will be made so that the presiding officer can be present at the polling station. About 800,000 members, including the army, police, BGB and Ansar, will be on duty during the election.
