Ali Larijani appointed Iran’s top security official

Ali Larijani has been appointed as the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC). China’s state news agency Xinhua News reported this information in a report on Wednesday (August 6). On Tuesday (August 5), local time, President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed the country’s former parliament speaker as the head of the top security body. According to various Iranian media, Larijani is going to be one of the two representatives of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the Security Council. In this role, he will assess all risks to Iran’s national security and take effective steps to resolve them. Tehran decided to reorganize the structure of the security body after the recent 12-day war with Iran.
