Although not completely satisfied with the July declaration, the People’s Rights Council has welcomed the announcement of election timing in February. The party’s president Nurul Haque Nur said this at a press conference on the July declaration in Purana Paltan in the capital today, Wednesday (August 7). Nur said that the 2024 mass uprising is a continuation of the 2018 quota reform movement and the safe road movement. But a fabricated history has been written without mentioning it in the July declaration. The number of martyrs could not be determined even in the last one year. He also alleged that the government has not been able to present accurate history and information to the nation. He further said that the People’s Rights Council demands that the July declaration be reformed through discussions. In addition, the July charter should be given a legal basis. The party’s president demanded that the next national elections be held on this basis. Welcoming the election announcement, Nur said that the People’s Rights Council welcomes the announcement of election timing in February, which is being seen as positive. He wants elections before February, but has no objection to elections in December-January. However, he also complained that the current administration is not impartial.
