Banks will be closed tomorrow
All banks in the country will be closed tomorrow, August 5, on the occasion of the ‘July Mass Uprising Day’. This decision has been announced in a notification of Bangladesh Bank. Along with banks, capital market transactions will also be closed. A notification in this regard was issued by the Department of Off-Site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday (July 17). It said that according to the notification of the Cabinet Division on July 2, all banks will be closed on the occasion of the ‘July Mass Uprising Day’. Earlier, the government declared August 5 as the ‘July Mass Uprising Day’. A general holiday was declared in all government institutions on the occasion of the day. In line with that, private banks have also announced holidays. The concerned said that although physical banking services will be closed on the July Mass Uprising Day, other online banking services including ATMs and CRMs will remain operational. It is to be noted that bank and capital market activities will continue as usual from Wednesday (August 6).
