Jubo League leader arrested after visiting Dhanmondi 32
The police have arrested Yasin Sharif Majumder (42), an accused in the anti-discrimination student murder case and the convener of Feni’s Parshuram Upazila Jubo League. The building in Dhanmondi 32 in the capital was demolished by protesters during the ongoing political unrest a few months after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled. Police arrested him from Dhanmondi 32 area of Dhaka on Wednesday (July 30) at around 10:15 pm while he was visiting the building. The arrested Yasin is the nephew and son-in-law of the eldest daughter of Parshuram Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila Awami League President Kamal Uddin Majumder. In addition, he has served as the BRDB Chairman and General Secretary of the Upazila Sports Association for the past one and a half decades. Yasin served as the former president of the banned organization Parshuram Upazila Chhatra League. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Parshuram Police Station Md. Nurul Hakim said, I have heard that Jubo League leader Yasin has been arrested by the police of Dhanmondi Police Station in Dhaka. An investigation is underway in this regard. Jubo League leader Yasin has been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government in a mass uprising during the student-public movement on August 5. The police have confirmed that a case has been filed against him in connection with the killing of a student of the anti-discrimination student movement in Feni Mahipal.
