Chief Advisor inaugurates Army Chief Election Board
Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus formally inaugurated the ‘Army Chief Election Board-2025’ at the Army Headquarters. In this first phase of the promotion board, eligible officers of the Bangladesh Army with the rank of Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel will be considered for further promotion. At the beginning of the inauguration ceremony on Sunday (July 20) morning, he remembered all the martyrs, war-wounded and brave freedom fighters who participated in the liberation war, especially the martyrs of the armed forces and the army, including the brave soldiers. In addition, the Chief Advisor respectfully remembered the wounded and martyred army members while performing their duties in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. At the same time, he respectfully remembered all the students and public who were martyred and injured in the July 2024 mass uprising. The Chief Advisor directed the members of the Selection Board to emphasize on the professional skills, leadership qualities, standards of discipline, honesty, trustworthiness and loyalty and above all, suitability for the job for the promotion of officers. He also commented that honest, ethical, professional and leadership qualities of officers are deserving of higher promotions. Moreover, he directed to select for promotion those officers who have succeeded in providing competent leadership at different levels of military life above political ideology. He said that the Bangladesh Army, in addition to fulfilling its responsibilities to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty, is also making an important contribution in supporting the civil administration in maintaining internal peace and order, stability and dealing with disasters. At present, the army members have been fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to them to support the civil administration for some time. He sincerely thanked all the members of the army, starting from the army chief, for this sacrifice of the Bangladesh Army for the needs of the country. Upon reaching the venue, the Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman welcomed the Chief of Army Staff. The Chief of Army Staff expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Chief of Army Staff for coming despite his busy schedule to inaugurate the Election Board. Senior military and civilian officials were present at the inauguration ceremony of the Election Board. After the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff participated in a photo session with the present army officials and recorded his comments in the inspection book.
